My speculation yesterday that today's beer would not be a hazy was in fact correct. Today we have Three Floyd's Alpha Klaus (3.82/92/99). This "cousin" of Alpha King is a mega hoppy, mega roasty porter. Despite having tons of chocolate and barley notes, this beer isn't heavy. In fact, it's damn near quaffable and at 7.3% it does not suggest imminent death if you get deep into a six pack. The ideal time for this beer is when you decide to grill steaks in 37 degree weather and need a beer to keep you toasty next to the grill. As the high in DC today was roughly 44 degrees, it was a good day for this beer.
I'm going to make a rough transition here, and jump to a movie recommendation. (In a minute, you'll understand why, so bear with me....) I assume that people who read this blog have kids, and since the only page views come from my friends, I think it's a mega safe assumption. Now every December you likely watch
Rudolph,
Frosty, and maybe
Santa Clause is Comin' to Town with Burgermeister Meisterburger (comedy gold in the name alone). I've got a new classic to add and it is Klaus (
95) on Netflix. It's an amazing twist on the Santa origin story, and one where Santa is kind of a bad ass. Kids will love the animation, parents will love a truly unique and new story. Give it a while while drinking some Alpha Klaus (now you get it....). Until tomorrow folks:)
