Day 8 was a fun curveball. One of our participants decided to shove a Q.O.R.I.S. can inside of a sawed open Partly Cloud can. It made it impossible to identify the Q.O.R.I.S. by the diminutive 8.5oz can size for which is it is know. What is a Q.O.R.I.S. you ask? Let me bring you back to Day 2 of 2021....
Q.O.R.I.S. the Quasher (4.22/95/100) (or in long form Quadruple Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout) comes from Hoppin' Frog, and everything I wrote about it 3 years ago remains true. It is the biggest damn beer I've ever tasted, and the 8.5oz serving size is the perfect way to consume a 15.7% beer without ending up face down in the gutter.
I don't know if I can easily buy this beer in Virginia, but I might look into it....
But wait there is wine!
We get our first red of the calendar with wine #3, and it's a delight. Today we have Cantina Del Pino Langhe Nebbiolo (3.9). It's the 2022 which was a great year for Montepulciano grown in the Langhe region. (Note, how is that for half assed internet research?) I'm going to turn the rest of the wine review over to Scott, who speaks for more intelligently and incoherently about flavors than I could ever hope to. Take it away...
"I was really getting a lot of cherries and floral biz. It had a cool finish, too after the tannins. It's like when wildflower honey is done being sweet and is just kinda residual bee pee dancing around in your nasal cavity. I dug it alot."
Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Back in a bit with Day 9:)
