Two data points do not make a trend, but we have started Beer Advent with two sessions in a row. It's Time (3.91/NR/3.6)by Anchorage Brewing is a delightful little table saison that clocks in at 3.5%. One of our Beer Advent// participants is huge saison afficionado, so I'm going to use his words here. It's Time is, "a nice little table saison with some oaky tannins, a hint of acidity and some saison yeast character nicely balanced... with phenols slightly beating out the esters." Do with that what you will people, I found this a nice light body dry beer that wasn't going to hurt me on a Monday night:)
What I really love about this beer is the can art.
We'll see if the session trend continues into Day 3, or if we'll revert to the big beers of Beer Advent past.
But wait there is wine!
As a tip of the hat to our wives who prefer wine to beer, we added six bottles of wine into the advent rotation a few years back. They appear pretty randomly throughout the month, and I'll do what I can to call them out when they show up. Today's wine was Cambos Feret Les Buissons Sauvignon Blanc (4.0). Mrs. DMP and I have been down on Sauv Blanc as too often they turn into grass bombs. Luckily Les Buissons has the right amount of grass (non wine people shake their head at this....) and also brings a balance of citrus, green apple and maybe even some goose berry. For me this is wine to have with soft cheeses and crackers, as I don't think it has the body to hold up to real food, but offers a refreshing balance and depth of flavor that is really hard to find at a comparable price point. In short, it's a winner:)
